Trauma-Informed
Being trauma-informed means having a deep understanding of the impact of trauma on individuals and communities. It involves recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma, understanding the ways in which trauma can affect a person's mental and physical health, and being able to provide appropriate support and treatment.
Trauma-informed care also involves creating a safe and supportive environment for clients, being aware of potential triggers, and working collaboratively with clients to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to their unique needs and experiences.
Grief-Informed
Being grief-informed means having an understanding of the impact of grief on individuals and communities. It involves recognizing that grief is a natural response to loss and that it can manifest in different ways for different people.
A grief-informed approach involves creating a safe and supportive environment for those who are grieving, acknowledging their experiences, and providing appropriate resources and support. Being grief-informed is an essential aspect of providing effective and compassionate care to clients who are experiencing grief and loss.
Internal Family Systems Therapy
IFS views every human being as a system of protective and wounded inner parts lead by a core Self. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged and it knows how to heal.
IFS helps people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. It fosters a sense of inner and outer connectedness by helping people first access their Self and, from there, come to understand and heal their parts. It is also a way of understanding personal and intimate relationships.
Polyvagal Theory
Polyvagal theory is a framework developed by Dr. Stephen Porges that explains how our nervous system responds to stress and trauma. It suggests that our body has three different states of autonomic nervous system functioning, each with its own set of physiological responses. These states are the ventral vagal state, the sympathetic state, and the dorsal vagal state.
In psychotherapy, understanding the polyvagal theory can help therapists to better understand their clients' physiological responses to stress and trauma, and to tailor their interventions accordingly. By helping clients to regulate their nervous system and move towards a state of safety, therapists can support healing and growth.
Person-Centered Therapy
PCT is based on the sincerely believe that each person has all the resources, strength, and power to promote their own changes towards healing, gaining new insights and developments. The psychotherapist’s role is to provide the client with the necessary conditions for such growth and changes to occur. Therefore, a psychotherapist strives to ensure a safe and trustworthy interpersonal relationship and environment, so that a client may discover and establish their path to self determination.
Person-centered suggests a “way of being” toward others (and perhaps oneself) that is genuine, empathic, and accepting. It emphasizes shared values yet encourages uniqueness. It it encourages individuals to develop their own unique way of being, by exploring individualized ways of implementing and following their values and beliefs.
Integrative Somatic Therapy
ISTP is a body-centered soul-based psychotherapy for healing trauma. It focuses on enhancing the body's own capacity to heal from body-stored trauma by freeing the body, breath, and energy flow through the practice of self-awareness and self-compassion. It believes that true healing comes when we work in tandem with both mind and body.
ISTP is incorporates yoga, mindfulness practice, breathwork, hands-on healing modalities, somatic (body-based) interventions and neuroscience designed to enhance the body's own capacity too heal and reclaim hope. Individuals are guided to gently release body-stored trauma, experience self-efficacy, gain greater emotional resilience, and interact with life's circumstances with clarity, openess, and heart.
